2015 Was a Record Year for Business Aviation Traffic on the French Riviera

coteIn a complex economic and geopolitical context, the Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur (ACA) Group announces another record year for Business Aviation with 46,000 movements processed at its three airport hubs, Nice, Cannes and Saint-Tropez. This exceptional figure, which positions ACA as a major site for this sector in the World, is accompanied by historically high growth in the size and tonnage of aircraft with +3.4%.

There is also good improvement in helicopter traffic that generated a growth of almost 2% in 2015 with about 54,000 movements. New infrastructure was built in 2015, commissioned in early 2016, with a terminal dedicated to helicopter passengers to facilitate their transfer and develop connections to scheduled commercial lines. The airport welcomes the arrival of a new high-end operator to run the scheduled line between the Principality of Monaco and Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, sharing its high level of service requirement.

Cannes Mandelieu Airport has also significantly improved its aircraft reception capacity by raising tonnage which allows it to receive aircraft of up to 35 tonnes. This improvement is part of a conscious environmental approach to reduce pollution generated by the activity.

Finally, significant progress has been made in the development of the Group’s ground handling business (FBO – Fixed Based Operator), through its Sky Valet subsidiary. The brand and the quality of Sky Valet premium service are now present at Le Bourget Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Palma, Ibiza, Valencia, Gerona, Santiago de Compostela and La Coruña; and in the near future at Malaga too. The subsidiary thus offers its customers continuity in “high end” services through a pan-European network of key territories.
