Transas to supply integrated avionics to Russia’s most modern multirole helicopter Ka-62

transas ka-62Ка-62 helictopter with Transas integrated avionics on board has been presented to commercial operators of the Asia-Pacific region during Singapore Air Show 2014.

Designed and manufactured by Russian Helicopters Holding Kamov Ka-62 features the modern “glass cockpit” developed by Transas. The Ка-62 airborne equipment is largely unified with other Transas-designed integrated on-board avionics systems of the Мi-38 (КBO-38) and Мi-8/17 (IBKV-17) helicopters.

Besides, Ка-62 is the first Russian helicopter to incorporate Transas Head-Up Display (HUD) unit as optional equipment. Even the base version provides for installation of the Terrain Awareness and Warning system (TAWS), use of the GLONASS/GPS (GNSS) navigation and Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) functions. Helicopters can be equipped with Traffic Collision Avoidance System II (TCAS II).

Transas Group provides aeronautical and digital charts support world-wide, including Latin America – home to some of the first orders for Ка-62 helicopters.

In addition to airborne equipment, Transas Group has developed a prototype of the Ка-62 helicopter flight simulator with advanced visual system including detailed terrain modelling for part of the territory of Brazil – the first country to order the new aircraft. The simulator prototype is based on the actual research flight simulator developed for the purposes of avionics tests and trials. The project may in the future provide for the delivery of the entire range of flight training facilities, ranging from Computer-Based Training Systems (CBTS) to Level “D” Full Flight Simulators (FFS). All Transas simulators conform to the most recent ICAO requirements (DOC 9625) and comply with both Russian and the FAA and EASA regulations.

The research flight simulator and the simulator prototype will be used for the preparation for the maiden flight. Following the completion of the Data Package and all required certifications accomplished jointly with the Russian Helicopters, these training facilities may be used for Ka-62 flight and ground personnel training.
