Moscow Domodedovo Airport Takes Part in Routes Europe 2014

domodedovoMoscow Domodedovo Airport is taking part in the 9th Annual Aviation Forum Routes Europe 2014 held in Marseille. The event is attended by 115 airlines, 380 airports and more than 1,200 aviation industry experts, suppliers and service providers, investors, representatives of international and regional associations, national tourism organizations, government agencies and the media.

Routes Europe is a global event, forming development trends of the aviation and tourism industry: the most important issues of the industry are discussed at the highest level, and traditionally the discussion is focused on the air transport market development and expansion of international air route network.

The Routes concept is dramatically different from traditional industry events and involves face-to-face scheduled business meetings, giving a real chance to establish new and to strengthen existing contacts in the global aviation industry. In 2014, there were filed more than six thousand applications for meetings, which is almost twice as more as in 2013.

This year, Frédéric Gagey, President of one of the flagship European airlines Air France, made a keynote speech at the Forum’s opening ceremony, telling about the trends and challenges in the development of European aviation and the need for closer cooperation between airlines and airports: “I have always believed that airlines and airports should be considered as two sides of the same coin. They should stick together to boost the effectiveness.” The Routes Europe 2014 participants focused on the challenges of government regulation, increased competition between carriers, changes in consumer behavior, convergence between network operators and actively growing low-cost segment, and finally, development of the global cruise industry, which stands a good chance to become one of the additional development drivers for the air transportation sector soon.

As part of the Forum, Moscow Domodedovo Airport experts take part in the talks with delegates of international airlines, airports and tourism organizations, consider options for interaction with potential partners in the context of the airport infrastructure modernization, attracting investments and launching new and unique routes.

Moscow Domodedovo Airport is actively developing flight connections with the EU countries. Today, regular flights from the largest Russian air hub go to 223 destinations, 62 of which are European routes. The Routes Europe Forum gives a unique chance to demonstrate the airport potential, conclude profitable contracts and find new opportunities for business diversification.
