Sheremetyevo Airport has provided services to more than 21 million passengers this year
Sheremetyevo International Airport has summarized its production performance for August and the first eight months of 2014. Since the beginning of the year, the volume of serviced passengers grew by 9% over the same period in 2013, reaching 21,355,000 passengers.
Passenger traffic for international airlines in January-August increased by 0.2%, totaling 12,623,000 passengers, with domestic airlines increasing by 24.8%, totaling 8,732,000 passengers.
According to figures from August 2014, passenger traffic at Sheremetyevo Airport grew by 11.2% compared with the same period in 2013, amounting to 3,475,000 passengers. Passenger traffic from international airlines in August rose by 1%, reaching 2,068,000 passengers, and with domestic airlines it rose by 30.7%, reaching 1,407,000 passengers.
Antalya, Paris, Prague, Beijing, Rome, New-York, Amsterdam, Hurghada, Shanghai, Kiev, and Istanbul were among the most popular foreign destinations, with St. Petersburg, Sochi, Krasnodar, Yekaterinburg, Mineralnye Vody, Rostov-On-Don, Kaliningrad, Samara, and Vladivostok were among the most sought-after domestic destinations.
Antalya, Hurghada, Larnaca, Barcelona, Burgas, Sharm-el-Sheikh, Istanbul, Rhodes, Heraklion, Athens, and Bangkok became the most popular tourist destinations during the lastspring-summer holiday season (May — August). During this period, a total number of 2.5 million passengers departed from Sheremetyevo Airport to 35 destination points with the largest tourist centers and world resorts.
The main area of growth from passenger traffic in the first eight months was provided by Aeroflot, Transaero, Nordwind Airlines, Donavia, Orenburg Airlines, and AirFrance.
In January-August, Sheremetyevo Airport supported the execution of 170,776 takeoff and landing operations, which is 5.8% more compared with the same period in 2013. In August, the volume of takeoff and landing operations grew by 5.1%, reaching 23,810 operations.
