According to analysis website Sotrender, Warsaw Chopin Airport is one of the most popular and active Polish brands on Twitter. The airport also leads in the “Travel and Places” category.
The airport’s Twitter account (www.twitter.com/chopinairport) was followed by nearly 43,500 people in September, making it the fifth most popular Polish brand on Twitter and the leader in the “Travel and Places” category. Chopin Airport is also among the most active Polish brands, holding the 10th position in the general ranking and the 2nd place in the “Travel and Places” category in terms of own posts and fan engagement.
Przemysław Przybylski, manager of Chopin Airport PR Division, said: “The great results we are seeing are thanks to our efforts alone. Chopin Airport doesn’t spend any money on brand promotion, neither on the Internet, nor in real world. Despite that, we’ve been successfully competing for the attention of Internet users with companies that use big-budget advertising campaigns to promote themselves on TV and billboards.”
The Warsaw airport also ranks high among all airports active on social media when it comes to the IQ Skift score, an activity indicator for the top four social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. The airport has remained in the top ten most popular and active airports on social media for many months now, ahead of such larger airports as Atlanta, Dubai, Frankfurt, Paris, Beijing or San Francisco.
“Our key to success is our commitment and the idea behind the brand’s personality. On Twitter, we try not to sound like a corporation and take a more informal approach to communication. We provide useful information and answer passenger questions virtually around the clock. There are interesting facts, stories from the life of the airport and a lot of photos. We are not afraid of heated discussion. Our followers appreciate this, which translates into the number of comments, favorites and retweets we get,” said Przemysław Przybylski.
Apart from Twitter, Chopin Airport uses seven more social media channels for interactive communication with its clients. The airport’s PR division is responsible for two Facebook pages (Polish and English), as well as the profiles on Instagram, Google+, YouTube, Pinterest and SoundCloud. The airport spokesman has two blogs and actively engages in discussions on Internet aviation forums, such as Lotnictwo.net.pl and SkyscraperCity.
