1. Build your confidence
Since you have the certificate in your hands, the first thing to do is to put in the hours in order to gain confidence and more practical skills. Remember all the things you learned and try to fly keeping on top of the skills. The first flights are the most exciting ones, so go for it! The more hours you fly, the more confidence and experience you get.
2. Take family and friends for a flight
All the time while you were studying, your family and friends were patiently waiting for the reward of the first flight. So now is a right time to give back the promises! Share your joy of flying with them. Nothing will make you happier than seeing the sparkles in a person’s eyes, experiencing the first flight while you are in the pilot’s seat.
3. Take a night flight
It is highly recommended for the newly qualified pilots to develop a night flight skills. That will give you both, more confidence in yourself as a pilot and a stunning view of nocturnal panorama with many twinkling lights.
4. Fly for dinner
Anytime it is pleasant to go for dinner outside rather than cook at home. But why do not make it even more memorable? Fly out for dinner. Since you are already a pilot, you can navigate your way to the meal! Even if it is an airport restaurant, it will be the dinner you will never forget.
5. Become a Flight Instructor
Your Private Pilot License enables you to become a Flight Instructor. That is a beneficial thing to choose at least for two reasons. First, you could do a lot of flying in order to gain the experience and hours in your logbook, second, you could share and transfer your knowledge to those, who have just started their way of becoming a pilot.
6. Fly abroad
One more challenge the newly qualified pilot has to accept – flying to another country. It may not be easy to make this decision for the first time, but it is definitely worthy. It will take you out of familiar territory, and may include speaking to controllers with different accents. International flying will also provide you a sense of freedom as you can travel wherever you want, using only your skills.
7. Fly to aviation festival
Use your Private Pilot License as a “ticket” to get to the huge aviation events, most of which offers an opportunity to fly in with your own plane. Go to EAA AirVenture (“Oshkosh”) – the world’s largest fly-in, or European air show – Tannkosh – which is one of the biggest fly-ins in Europe. These events provide plenty of useful seminars, air shows and exhibitions, as well as attract hundreds of private aircraft.
8. Learn aerobatics
Aerobatics is one area to explore after you get your license. Test yourself in aerobatics and put a serious dose of adrenaline to a flying experience. Although it demands plenty of stamina and practice, it is incredibly fun activity.
9. Join a Flying Club
If you do not yet have a possibility to afford your very own plane, than joining a flying club could be a great option. It is a good way for pilots to team up with other pilots and spread out the costs of owning and operating the airplane. As well as to be surrounded by aviation enthusiasts, the same as you are!
10. Restore vintage aircraft
If you have a passion for the airplane itself, then take a leap into a unique activity – vintage aircraft restoration.
