European Airports to Strengthen Passenger Baggage Checks

Riga International Airport reminds its passengers that starting from 1 March new European Commission regulatory requirements came into force regarding the check of passengers’ carry-on baggage.

The passengers should take into account the fact that more time will be spent at the security control of the European airports. At the request of the airport’s Security Department staff, the hand baggage of some passengers will be subjected to more thorough checking.

Despite the fact that the time spent at the security control can be longer, the changes will not be drastic and the passengers need not worry.

The purpose of the additional security measures is to increase flight security. In order to settle all the formalities before the flight, we kindly request the passengers to arrive at the airport two hours prior to their scheduled departure.

It should be added that the information about the screening methods applied is restricted access information classified under Regulation (EU) No 187/2015.
