Chopin Airport Awarded The Best Of The Best

chopin airportPrizes in five categories were awarded during the X Chopin Airport Gala, which was held at the Warsaw Horse Racetrack.

In the category of the largest increase in passenger traffic the undisputed leader was WizzAir. The Hungarian airline recorded last year an increase in the number of passengers by 380,000, which is a 31% increase. The carrier also received the prize for the highest number of new connections from Warsaw Chopin Airport. Last year WizzAir has launched 12 new directions. In total, the Hungarian carrier operates from the Chopin Airport on more than 30 directions.

UPS Airlines was the winner in the biggest increase in transported cargo category. In 2015 the carrier transported a total of nearly 10,000 tonnes of cargo, which is over 4,000 more than the year before.

Award for the most punctual airline went to Polish SprintAir. The average difference between the scheduled time and the actual time on passenger flights of the carrier from Warsaw last year was less than 5 minutes.

Air France had the highest load factor in regular traffic last year. The airplanes flying between the capitals of France and Poland had an average rate of occupied seats at the level of nearly 85%.

Mariusz Szpikowski, General Director of PPL and director of Chopin Airport opened the Gala. In his speech he presented the company’s achievements in the past year, and described the plans for the future. After the awards ceremony, the guests listened to the recital Waldemar Malicki and Jacek Piskorz Band and Orchestra Viva.
