Giuseppe Giordo to Lead Aero Vodochody

Ladislav Šimek led Aero, the largest aviation manufacturer in the Czech Republic, for seven years. “It was an honour to work in Aero in a team of professionals. I hope I have contributed to the future development of Aero and of L-39NG project,” said Šimek. Since 2009, when Šimek came to the company, Aero grew by 800 employees. Aero also restarted its military programs, especially L-39 aircraft, and launched a development of new generation of this legendary jet trainer – L-39NG. The company has also focused on diversification of its cooperation programs and has successfully become a partner to leaders of world aerospace industry.

The new president and CEO of Aero, Giuseppe Giordo, served in 2011-2015 as the Chief Executive Officer of Finmeccanica unit Alenia. However, his career in aerospace industry started already in 1990. Among other tasks, Giordo has overseen sales of military jet trainers, in which Alenia has achieved great successes.

The change in the management team of Aero corresponds with the recent announcement of the Penta Group, Aero’s owner.  Penta Group announced a plan to engage more foreign managers in its companies. “Under Penta, Aero moved to close cooperation with global players in the industry and the credit for that goes also to Mr. Šimek. To reach the goal to become a stable member of group of global aerospace leaders, we see as important to engage a manager with extensive professional experience within the global aviation industry.“ said Zdeněk Kubát, investment director of Penta.
