Courtyard by Marriott Warsaw Airport has been awarded by the corporation Marriott a reward for activities in the area SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT. The company appreciated Warsaw Courtyard by Marriott for its consequence, as well as the full spectrum of CSR activities for the local community, ecology and employees. 280 hotels across Europe, representing all brands Marriott participated in the competition.
The award honours social activity of all the employees, as well as CSR leaders in our hotel: Margaret Karwacki – HR Manager, and Lidia DMOWSKI – PR Manager – says Aneta Stępkowska, director of the hotel. – At Marriott, social responsibility has existed for 30 years. In our hotel we engage in various initiatives since its opening, for more than 13 years, and I can say that on the Polish hotel market, we have something to say about this. For me personally, it is also an important part of building relationships and commitment, without which these initiatives simply would not happen.
Hotel Courtyard from the beginning of its operation supports materially the pupils of Family Children’s Home in Równe, organizing Christmas meetings with Santa Claus, financing and assisting in the implementation of repairs and gardening. The works of the orphanage pupils can also be purchased in the hotel lobby, and thus obtained money are transferred to the institution. In addition, the hotel is working with a number of other public benefit organizations such as Caritas Poland, Warsaw Single Mothers Home in Białołęka, Social Welfare House Wola, Children’s Fantasy Foundation, SOS Children’s Villages or animal shelter at Paluch. In 2015, these institutions, depending on the needs, were given blankets, clothing, bedding, cleaning products, books, cosmetics and toys for children, as well as free accommodation and hotel services. Every year the staff fulfills the dreams written in the letters sent to Santa Claus by a group of pupils of the SOS Children’s Villages foundation.
– Our team consists of people, who on their own initiative, come to me with ideas for helping the others and social activity. Every organized action is met with strong support and interest of our employees – says Małgorzata Karwacka, HR Manager at Courtyard by Marriott Warsaw Airport.
In terms of ecology, every year in April, in cooperation with Remondis, the hotel organizes collection of both hotel and household electrowaste. In exchange for the disposal, the hotel receives from the project partner plants that are planted by the hotel staff in the garden of the Family Children’s Home in Równe. It is also traditional to become involved in the “Clean up the World” action during which, the hotel employees jointly clean up the area around the airport, and the “Earth Hour” – action under the auspices of the WWF, where employees and guests of the hotel are encouraged to switch off the lights for an hour, and as a long-term effect – reduce electricity consumption.
