Menzies Aviation team in Hyderabad recently jumped at the opportunity to manage the technical handling of the Antonov AN-225 Mriya – the world’s largest aircraft.
In anticipation of it’s arrival, the team held many discussions with the Airport Authority to plan the handling procedure. An entire cargo apron was vacated in order for the AN-225 to be parked at a position ready for rollout and suitable markings were made to accommodate the aircraft.
The arrival of the AN-255 Mriya – meaning ‘Dream’ in Ukrainian – generated a great deal of excitement among the team and the entire airport with everyone eager to get a glimpse of the enormous vehicle.
The team liaised with the Charter Operator to provide services such as ground power, air cooling, ground transport and crew handling. In addition, the team arraged catering, fuelling and security, including access control. Due to the large amount of attention generated by the aircraft’s arrival, they also helped facilitate media and VIP movements alongside the Airport Authority for the duration of it’s stay – just over 24 hours.
