May was a very eventful month. Some of the most important events included obtaining the European Public Use Aerodrome Licence and the approval for our investment plan that most importantly provides for a new runway and a dialogue with the local community. June has been just as hectic. It marks the beginning of holiday season and preparations for the World Youth Day. Kraków Airport is fully capable of handling both pilgrims and the rest of passengers.
It is worth noting that two airlines will launch new connections from Kraków Airport in June: Iberia Express (to Madrid) and Aegean (to Athens). As far as scheduled flights are concerned, easyJet’s connection to Edinburgh and Ryanair’s connections to Madrid (MAD) and Leeds/Bradford (LBA) were the busiest in May. Kraków Airport has handled 1,849,773 passengers since the beginning of the year. It is an increase of 280 thousand passengers, i.e. a growth rate of 18%.
