Tuesday, June 17, at the Chisinau International Airport took place the ceremony dedicated to start of construction of a multilevel parking at the airport. The ceremony was attended by the General Director of “AVIA INVEST” Ltd. – Mr. Petru Jardan, the General Director of the National Institute of Building and Design “Urbanproiect” – Mr. Yuri Povar, as well as by the General Director of «Exfactor Grup» Ltd. – Mr. Vladimir Tonu.
Thus, after obtaining the necessary authorizations and other permits, as well as after solving all the technical issues, the construction of multi-level parking has started. The project will provide 823 parking spaces and will be situated immediately in front of the airport complex.
It is important to note that, due the growing operational needs in terms of passenger traffic increase, AVIA INVEST starts the project of construction of a multilevel parking earlier the period, stipulated by the concession agreement.
After the selection process, it was decided that two Moldovan companies will execute this project – the planner company – NIBD “Urbanproiect”, and to the construction contractor company – “Exfactor Grup” Ltd. Both companies have presented the most effective proposals which, along with the economic benefits, include an effective approach in terms of technological mechanisms and configuration of service characteristics of the parking and that are, naturally, in full compliance with all the current building codes and regulations.
The works will last 9 months, and in April 2015, the passengers of the Chisinau International Airport will be able to use the new four-leveled parking. The project provides parking spaces for the sedentary group of population, situated on the upper level, as well as two freight-passenger elevators; ramps for the transportation of visitors and cars between the levels; access control and video surveillance, sound notification and all the necessary equipment, according to the European standards. The preliminary assessment of required investments is about 7 million euro.
During the entire complex of construction works, the passengers of the Chisinau International Airport will have the possibility to use the temporary free parking for 260 cars, specially equipped within the implementation of this project, which is located in the east side of the Air Terminal.
During the presentation of the parking project, Mr. Jardan has talked about the following planned steps of the investor, namely – the expansion of the existing terminal complex by 2300 m2, as well as the redesign of the existing spaces (4000 m2). It is planned that the design works will be performed by both local and foreign design companies. One of the main objectives of the airport terminal expansion is to increase its capacity from 420 to 750 passengers per hour. The beginning of works is planned for September, this year. The approximate amount of necessary investments will be about 10 million Euro. In parallel, in June will be announced a tender for the selection of a planning-company which will work for the modernization and the reconstruction of the apron, the taxiways and the runway. The minimum amount of planned investments is 30 million Euros. During the presentation, Mr. Jardan stressed that all the plans for the modernization and the development of the Chisinau airport are caused by the current development rhythms of the segment of passenger’s air-transport, and will be implemented using the latest technologies in the development of ground infrastructure for air transport.
