On 3rd of November, on the Chisinau International Airport took place the inauguration ceremony of the works on extension and reconstruction of Chisinau Airport terminal. Avia Invest is implementing the strategic development plan of the airport, taking all the necessary measures to ensure the functionality of the airport in a reasonably efficient manner. To this end, was started the working process on the extension and reconstruction of the terminal in the East, West and South (9605 m²). The project involves the construction of a new zone with an area of 4155 m² and rebuilding and retooling the existing areas (5450 m²) in accordance with international requirements and standards.
Thus, the terminal extension and reconstruction (extension of the Arrival Zone, the departure Zone, the common hall Zone, the luggage Zone) will significantly reduce the inconveniences for the passengers by creating a pleasant atmosphere before the flight and increasing service capacity to 750 passengers per hour in each direction (now 420 passengers / hour). These are some of the main objectives from the strategic development plan for the Chisinau Airport, for which Avia Invest put constantly efforts to achieve them. However, parallel to this investment stage, the works at the multistage parking are ongoing, the passengers already benefit from a new waiting area, a new restaurant with a dedicated space for smokers and a playground for children in the area after the border control, by thus being ensured a high level of comfort for all passengers.
It is important to note that during the extension works at the terminal, the passenger flight schedule will not be disrupted.
To implement this project have been selected two companies from Moldova – the design company – NIBD “Urbanproiect” and the construction company – “Exfactor Grup” LTD. Both companies perform the works on the construction of multistage parking in front of the airport complex. They presented the best offers, both technically and financially, complying with all rules and regulations of construction.
Also, Avia Invest company leads an intense collaboration with airline operators in order to diversify the routes. As a result, on the map of the flights operated on Chisinau Airport were added four new destinations – Warsaw, Milan-Bergamo, Moscow-Sheremetyevo, Turin and other two companies EUROLOT and AEROFLOT began operating flights to Warsaw and Moscow.
