Bombardier Aerospace announced that each of its eight wholly owned service centres in the U.S. has been awarded a 2013 Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Diamond Award Certificate of Excellence, the industry’s highest honour for aviation maintenance.
This award recognizes Bombardier’s commitment to offering customers access to the most highly skilled workforce through an extensive training program. For more than a decade, Bombardier’s service centres have consistently earned the Diamond Award of Excellence, with the Hartford facility leading the way with 15 consecutive awards. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) sponsors the award, which is presented annually to U.S.-based AMT employers that take a proactive role in training 100 per cent of their technical workforce.
“Combined, our team members spend thousands of hours training each year, continuing to refine our expertise and share best practices across our service centre network,” said Stan Younger, Vice President, Aircraft Service Centres, Bombardier Customer Services. “It is through this training that we ensure standardization around the globe for the work that we complete.”
This year, six team members from Dallas, Fort Lauderdale, Tucson, and Wichita, were also recognized with the highest individual honour – the Gold award. Earning this award requires a minimum of 80 hours of eligible aviation maintenance training, as well as satisfactory completion of a college-level course of three credit hours, or 40 classroom hours in Mathematics, English, Science, Aviation Safety, Human Factors, Management, Quality Control or similar aviation career-related courses.
In addition to the company’s eight wholly owned service centres in the U.S., Bombardier also has service centres in Amsterdam, Netherlands at the Schiphol International Airport and our newest service centre at Seletar Aerospace, Singapore. Bombardier’s business and commercial aircraft customers also have access to a broad network of more than 61 Authorized Service Facilities around the world.
