After being Highly Commended in the 4-20 million passengers category at the World Routes Marketing Awards just two weeks ago, Budapest Airport has been bestowed with yet another accolade, this time declared as CAPA’s Airport of the Year. Acclaimed as the airport which has chiefly participated in the progressive advancement of the aviation industry, the Central Eastern European airport’s CEO, Jost Lammers, was last night in Helsinki at the CAPA World Aviation Summit to accept the highly-esteemed honour.
Receiving the independently selected award on behalf of his hard-working team at the Hungarian gateway, Lammers commented: “The recognition of Budapest Airport’s tireless work to realise its vision of being an industry-leading airport is a resounding acknowledgement for all of us. The CAPA awards themselves are highly respected throughout the world of the air transport industry, we are immensely proud to accept it, and particularly appreciative to have our teamwork recognised by industry experts.”
The results of the CAPA Aviation Awards of Excellence are based on the review of an esteemed panel of eight judges including Rigas Doganis, Aviation Consultant and former Director of GMR Hyderabad International Airport; Andrew Herdman, Director General, AAPA; JetBlue Airways’ previous CEO, Dave Barger; and renowned industry expert, Professor Nawal Taneja. CAPA appraises airlines and airports that are both successful, while also showing leadership in the implementation of strategies offering new directions in the aviation industry. Having previously been first awarded a CAPA Award in 2012, Budapest Airport’s growing reputation is apparent in this year’s appraisal.
In a further comment, Lammers remarks: “It is teamwork, teamwork, teamwork that continuously results in the success at Budapest Airport. This philosophy is engrained into each business and corporate unit at our airport and this award is a great compliment to our values and forward-thinking.”
