The presentation of the scale model of the “Tomorrow’s Airport” was held on 5th of December, at Chisinau International Airport terminal. The scale model was officially launched and displayed for all the airlines representatives, the main partners and mass- media representatives. The scale model was placed in the center of the departure lounge of the terminal, thereby all the passengers or simple visitors will have the possibility to see the scale model of the “Tomorrow’s Airport”.

The present scale model is the presentation of a comprehensive development strategy of Chisinau Airport. It provides concrete sequential steps of LLC AVIA INVEST toward the development and investments into airport infrastructure. All the modernization plans are due to the current situation in the fast-growing market of aviation services and based on the latest technology and the latest achievements in the field of air transport.

The scale model of the “Tomorrow’s Airport” is made to a scale of 1:200 with a very high degree of detalization. It is displayed as information about the current situation of the infrastructure, and the prospect of its development over the next 20 years, which was earlier presented by Tatiana Semeonova, Vice President for Strategy and Development of Habarovsk Airport, at a press conference which took place in November of this year.

It is important to note, that the ideas presented in the scale model of the airport – is the result of close cooperation with specialists of LLC AVIA INVEST and foreign and local consulting and engineering companies, such as Airport Consulting Vienna (Austria), Hochtief AirPort GmbH (Germany), Arhiconi Grup SRL (Moldova), Ramboll (Denmark), Urbanproiect (Moldova).

On the presented scale model of airport, in miniature can be easily viewed and recognized the current VIP lounge and Official Delegation Hall, the MoldATSA building and its tower, the scale models of aircrafts, the landscape is presented in relief, with a height difference. However, the scale model of airport shows detailed the airport facilities, which in the future will significantly change the appearance of the Chisinau International Airport. This new and modern terminal with boarding bridges, renovated and expanded platform with parking places for aircrafts, multi-level car parking, developed network of driveways and many others. The reconstruction project is also stipulating the modernization of airside of the airport (runway, taxiways, apron), and other several items of technical and career destination. Renovated airport will be equipped with the most modern equipment and in all will comply with high international standards and requirements.

On scale model is clearly traced the expansion of the existing terminal in the east, west and south. The current terminal expansion project will be implemented in 2015. This would increase the acceptance rate of the terminal and bring it up to 750 passengers / hour. (Today is 420 passengers / hour).

The second phase of the airport development – is based on the construction of a new airport terminal with boarding bridges and with acceptance rate of 600 passengers / hour, and area of ​​20000m2 and its joint operation with the existing terminal. Going forward is the expansion of the new airport terminal by 12,000 m2 and increase of its acceptance rate to 1600 passengers/hour, mainly based on the introduction of new technologies of passenger service. As a result, we obtain a new modern terminal with area of ​​32,000 m2, equipped with boarding bridges, which impressively are displayed on the scale model.

Regarding the architectural embodiment of a new air-terminal complex, then here there is an organic combination of innovative solutions, advanced trends, innovative technologies and elements of national architecture. But, the most important task remains the implementation of requirements to ensure safety and to provide the high level of passenger service.

It should be noted that the most interesting time to admire the scale model of airport is the evening, when, as a result of the illumination, all the buildings are beautifully lit.

Implementation of the whole concession project of Airport foresees an investment of at least 244 million euros, which at least 14 million euros are more than the size of the investment program, proposed in the technical proposal of concession of airport assets.

Along with the implementation of all stages of reconstruction and modernization of the airport, AVIA INVEST actively continues to promote Chisinau Airport, both in the framework of direct negotiations with the airlines, which are the potentially interested to operate, and the specialized international platforms, forums and conferences.

Separately, we note that in the framework of negotiations with airports and airlines main efforts are directed to attract the attention to the fact of Moldova’s accession to the European Common Aviation Area, the cancellation of bilateral agreements, liberalization of the aviation market. As a result of airline attractive policy of Chisinau International Airport, which is actively promoted by AVIA INVEST, new carriers such as Wizz Air and flydubai were successfully attracted. The policy also has contributed to the launching of new routes of such airlines like Carpatair and Meridiana Fly.

There were initiated active negotiations and the bilateral cooperation agreement with Manas International Airport, Kyrgyzstan was already signed. The memorandum stipulates cooperation, exchange of experience and common search for a new airline which will create a bridge to Europe, via Chisinau.

The main objective of the concessioner remains to increase the passenger traffic through the Chisinau Airport, by transit passengers from the Far East, Siberia, the Urals, Asia – to the European Union countries. According to forecasts of the concessioner, based on the conclusions of international experts, Chisinau Airport passenger traffic will reach 3 million passengers per year in 2025 and the concessionaire is ready to provide the necessary infrastructure and an international standard service.
