Embraer Executive Jets and ABS Jets will jointly provide maintenance services for all types of Embraer executive aircraft during the upcoming Olympic Winter Games which will take place from 7 to 23 February 2014 in Sochi, Russia. A special Maintenance team will be on 24/7 standby to provide immediate technical support and when needed, ABS Jets can fly in spare parts from Prague or Moscow.
The 2014 XXII Olympic Winter Games take place from 7 to 23 February 2014 in Sochi, Russia. A major international event of this caliber creates an increased need for executive and private air transportation and subsequent supporting aviation services. About 3,000 athletes will be competing in 98 medal events in 15 disciplines. Officials, coaches and support staff of 88 participating nations will be present. Some nations will be represented by high ranking government officials and politicians. Hotels were built for 10,000 guests. Not only are the Olympics a sport event, it is a major development project for economy, infrastructure, transportation and telecommunication. Siemens delivered 38 trains, NBC has the broadcasting rights, Heinken Beer sponsored a Dutch House, to name a few international company names. A large number of VIPs be it officials, sponsors investors or suppliers will fly on private and corporate jets to the Games. Many of them will arrive at Sochi International Airport where 200 mio USD were invested for a new terminal, runway expansions and other measures to accommodate passengers and operators.
Among the visiting private and corporate jets there will be a significant number of Embraer executive jets. To ensure that owners and operators of these aircraft will receive optimal quality service and attention, Embraer and ABS Jets are partnering to provide any kind of maintenance support.
“A special Maintenance team in cooperation with Jet Flight Service, our partner in Russia “will be ready for action 24/7 from February 4th to 27th,“ says Thierry Barre, Technical Director of ABS Jets who is considered the Embraer expert in Central and Eastern Europe. “To complement the operation, enhancements have been made to the Embraer-owned spare parts stocks located both in Moscow and Prague, which can be flown to location through ABS Jets.”
Besides at Sochi International Airport (URSS), the services may also be provided in Krasnodar (URKK) and Anapa (URKA), which will be serving serve as relief airfields to the main airport. Engineers will be speaking English, Russian as well as the local Ossian language.
