November 28, 2013 – Embraer was announced, today, November 28, by the BM&FBOVESPA (São Paulo Stock Exchange), as a member of the ninth portfolio of the Corporate Sustainability Index (Índice de Sustentabilidade Empresarial – ISE). Along with Embraer, 39 other companies form this new portfolio, which will be in effect from January 6, 2014, to January 2, 2015.
This is the first time, since 2005, that the maximum number of member companies (40) has been achieved, which signifies the growing commitment of the companies to sustainability: there are 51 stocks from 40 listed companies, as against 37 in the previous edition.
According to BM&FBovespa, the companies listed represent 18 sectors and total R$ 1.14 trillion in market value, or the equivalent of 47.16% of the total value of the companies that have stocks traded on the Exchange, based on the close of this November 26. The BM&FBOVESPA also informed that 183 companies were invited to take part in the new portfolio, from among 200 with the most liquid stocks in the December 2012 database.
The ISE is a Latin American groundbreaker and was created in 2005 by the BM&FBOVESPA, in conjunction with other institutions, for the purpose of becoming a tool for the comparative analysis of the performance of companies, in terms of corporate sustainability, based on economic efficiency, environmental balance, social justice, and corporate governance.
