The Runway Run 3.0 charity fun race was held at the beginning of the month at Budapest Airport. More than 920 people from airlines, airports and other aviation organisations took part in this international sporting spectacle. This year Aerodrom Ljubljana’s colours were worn by Robert Rauch, Damjan Kepic, Nina Struna, Damjana Praprotnik and Boris Možek, who together with the other racers competed for eight prestigious titles and laurels.
At the end of the 10 km fun race the title of fastest airline in the world went to Swiss, whose team crossed the finish line in a time of 31 minutes. Other airlines taking part in the race included Wizz Air, Air Canada Jazz, Aeroflot, Air France, Brussels Airlines, Qatar Airways, SkyWest Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Finnair, Ethiopian Airlines, Monarch Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Emirates and last year’s winner Aer Lingus. The title of fastest CEO went to Andreas Wobig from Small Planet Airlines. Of the airports, the best performance went to Poland’s Wroclaw. The title of fastest aviation enterprise, for which a range of firms involved in passenger transport were competing (including the sponsors, Airbus), was won by Gebr. Heinemann.
All the competitors received a Bron’s Medal, named after Brontë “Bron” Hogan, the 12-year old daughter of Paul Hogan, editor of www.anna.aero, who in 2011 lost her fight against leukaemia after five years of struggle. The proceeds from the registration fees again went to charity this year. The beneficiaries chosen by the organisers on this occasion were Suhanj!, a Hungarian charity, and Anthony Nolan, a trust that works to provide bone marrow for leukaemia sufferers.
Aerodrom Ljubljana will have 46 members of staff running again in October, when they will take part in the Volkswagen 20th Ljubljana Marathon.
