HeliVert to Supply Three VIP-Model AW139 to Exclases Russia
HeliVert, a joint venture between Russian Helicopters (a subsidiary of Oboronprom, part of State Corporation Rostec) and AgustaWestland, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Exclases Russia for three AW139 helicopters in VIP configuration. The aircraft will be assembled at HeliVert and delivered in a time-frame set out in a contract to be signed in the near future. HeliVert and Exclases previously signed a contract for five helicopters in May 2013 that is being fulfilled to schedule.
The commercial AW139 is available in various configurations including VIP, passenger transport for 12-15 people, cargo transportation, standard and emergency rescue. It has a cruising speed of 306 km/h, maximum range of 927 km and flying time of up to 5 hours. The AW139 is fitted with two Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6C-67C turboshaft engines that deliver 1,679 hp. The first AW139 assembled in Russia made its debut flight in December 2012. Aircraft produced at HeliVert are marketed to customers across Russia and other CIS countries. They can also be equipped with Russian-produced components to meet the demands of state bodies and operating companies.
“The medium AW139 sets the standards for its class both in terms of flight capabilities and in terms of the number of aircraft that have been supplied to the global market,” HeliVert CEOAlexander Kuznetsov said. “The new agreement with Exclases Russia illustrates that the Russian market is continuing to discover the potential of this helicopter.”
HeliVert is located at Russian Helicopters’ National Helicopter Development Centre (NHDC). It was built from scratch, and today is one of the most advanced facilities of its type in Russia. Production of the AW139 in Russia began according to plan in 2012, and HeliVert plans to meet growing demand for the AW139 in Russia and other CIS markets.
