Jet Aviation Basel was presented the prestigious Society of British and International Design (SBID) International Design Award last week for winning the Contract Visualization category with its wide-body TIMELESS TO VISIONARY cabin interior designs.
Jet Aviation’s TIMELESS TO VISIONARY designs were launched by the company’s Design Studio in May this year to illustrate a journey from classic, timeless design creation to more visionary and futuristic concepts in cabin interior design, particularly as aircraft manufacturers increasingly introduce lightweight airframes of composite structures. With more than 400 entries submitted for 14 design categories from 33 countries, the TIMELESS TO VISIONARY design campaign won the coveted Visualization award in the Contract category. The award was presented at the 3rd annual SBID International Design Awards ceremony in London on November 29, 2013.
The highly contested SBID International Design Awards honor creative talents in the design industry and reward design excellence across the globe. The Residential and Contract awards for 2013 were judged by international industry leaders including Tony Hall, Director-General of the BBC, Nicholas Candy, CEO and Founder of Candy & Candy, Theo Williams, Head of Design at John Lewis; and David Lewis, Managing Director of Sunseeker London.
“Our team is delighted and honored to have the TIMELESS TO VISIONARY designs recognized by esteemed industry experts,” says Elisabeth Harvey, manager of the Jet Aviation Basel Design Studio. “Special thanks must also go to ACA Advanced Computer Art, with whom we collaborated to develop renderings and a video of our designs.”
Established in 1977, the Jet Aviation Basel Completions Center has created more than 200 bespoke and unique cabin interiors. The Jet Aviation Basel Design Studio was established in 2001 and employs 12 designers. Having created cabin interior designs for nearly half of the large, narrow- and wide-body aircraft it has completed, including 3 Boeing 747s, the Design Studio has successfully established strong working relationships with other design houses and world-renowned designers, many of whom also specialize in VIP aircraft interior design.
