M28B Bryza produced in Polskie Zaklady Lotnicze in Mielec and at service in 8th Air Transportation Base in Krakow-Balice, once again took part in a life-saving action. On August 14, Bryza marked as 0220 (serial number AJG004-03) transported a transplantation team together with organs to be transplanted. It was the 8th life-saving flight in ‘Heart’ Operation fulfilled by The Balice Air Base.
The flight crew members: Cpt. Robert Bogusz, second pilot Lt. Jan Bieżuński and a flight engineer Senior Warrant Officer Ryszard Kolski prepared the aircraft for the flight. At 5:20 pm Bryza started its flight from Heart Disease Silesian Center with the medical team on board. Having landed at 6:00 pm at Okecie Airport in Warsaw, the aircraft transported the medical team to one of Warsaw’s hospital. After heart drawing, Bryza flew to Katowice, where the transplantation took place. The Operation ‘Heart’ ended at midnight when the crew returned to the domestic airport in Balice.
8th Air Transportation Base in Krakow-Balice currently operates two variants of Bryza aircraft: M28 B/PT and M28 B/PT/GC. Aircraft no. 0220 was delivered to Balice at the beginning of 2012.
