New Infrastructure Investments at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport has completed spring investments cycle mainly related to the infrastructure improvement. Total investment of around EUR 3.6 million is carried out from own resources without any banking.
The most extensive works were performed as a part of the expansion and modernization of the terminal building project which at this stage included nearly 3,000 m² of useful space.

Works included all installations, interior and facade thereby increasing terminal building useful area and significantly improving the energy efficiency and the effectiveness of the facility. Part of the baggage reconciliation system is also modernized which improved the efficiency of passenger ground handling service.

Completion works on the longest taxiway reconstruction included approximately 2.5 km of pavement thus increasing maneuvering areas capacity and lifetime for at least five years, reducing maintenance costs, and further improving the air transport conditions in the aspects of safety and comfort.

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport infrastructure equipping continued by installation of 11 high-tech visual docking guidance systems enabling pilots to park an aircraft in the best and safest way.

Complete infrastructure works have carefully been planned so as not to affect the air traffic dynamics or passenger comfort.

As it is expected, near ending June will be marked as the record high in 52-year long history of the Belgrade Airport with estimated 455,000 passengers handled or for about 30 percent more than the same month last year. With such results Belgrade Airport continues the highest percentage increase in traffic volume and passenger numbers out of any capital city airport in Europe. The growth has largely been achieved due to the expansion of business and operations of the new national carrier Air Serbia.
