The combination of outstanding mission capabilities, state-of-the-art technology and the extensive involvement of Polish industry in the production of the AW149 built for the Polish requirement, as well as the recent military certification, makes this state-of-the-art aircraft even more attractive to Poland.
The selection of the AW149 by the Polish MoD would mean that a global manufacturing and development centre of this technologically advanced helicopter, which is at the beginning of its 40 plus year lifecycle, would be located in Świdnik, thus stimulating Polish aviation industry development and maintaining Poland’s security and independence.
The AW149 is a new generation multirole military helicopter developed with a significant contribution from PZL-Świdnik. The aircraft was recently designed to meet the most stringent requirements of the modern day battlefield. Its outstanding performance and capabilities make it an ideal platform for many applications, such as peace missions, combat support operations, tactical transport of troops and materials, SAR and CSAR, MEDEVAC/CASEVAC, command and control.
The AW149 has a chance to open up a brand new chapter in the history of Polish aviation industry and of the Świdnik-based plant, which is the only Polish facility with over 60 years of experience in designing, researching, producing, upgrading and maintaining helicopters. Similar industrial participation opportunities could be offered for the Polish attack helicopter requirement with the T129 being an ideal platform.
