Sheremetyevo Airport Served over Two Million Passengers in January
Sheremetyevo International Airport has recently announced the statistics of its operational activity in January 2015. The number of passengers served since the start of the year increased by 2.4% against the same period of 2014, reaching a total of 2,143,000 passengers.
Passenger traffic from international airlines in January 2015 year has reached 1,246,000 passengers, with domestic airline traffic reaching 898,000 passengers.
Paris, Bangkok, Prague, New-York, Kiev, Amsterdam, Beijing, Tel Aviv, Rome, Shanghai and Milan were among the most popular foreign destinations, while St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Yekaterinburg, Sochi, Simferopol, Rostov-On-Don, Samara, Mineralnye Vody, Kaliningrad and Vladivostok being the most sought-after domestic destinations.
The main airlines showing growth in passenger traffic in the January were Aeroflot, Nordwind Airlines, Donavia, AirFrance and Nordavia-RA.
In January 2015 year Sheremetyevo Airport supported the execution of 20,642 take-off and landing operations, which is 2.2% more compared with the same period in 2014.
Moreover, according to ACI Europe Airport Sheremetyevo on the results of 2014 ranked second in Europe in terms of growth among the largest airports in the continent. Three leaders of growth in group I (passenger traffic more 25 million) in Europe — Istanbul (+ 10.6%), Moscow SVO (+ 7.9%), London LGW (+7.5).
