Sheremetyevo International Airport has summarized its production performance for December and the year of 2014 overall. The volume of serviced passengers grew by 7.9% as compared with 2013, reaching 31,568,000 passengers. This is a record-breaking number not seen in the entire history of Sheremetyevo Airport.
Passenger traffic on international airlines in 2014, in general, remained at the level of the previous year, totaling 18,493,000 passengers, with domestic airlines increasing by 22.8%, totaling 13,075,000 passengers.
According to figures from December 2014, passenger traffic at Sheremetyevo Airport grew by 5.2% as compared with the same period in 2013, amounting to 2,221,000 passengers. Additionally, passenger traffic on international airlines in December generally remained at the level of the previous year, totaling 1,215,000 passengers, with domestic airline service increasing by 16.4%, totaling 1,006,000 passengers.
In 2014, Sheremetyevo Airport supported the execution of 255,570 takeoff and landing operations, an amount 4.8% more than in 2013. In December, the volume of takeoff and landing operations grew by 2.9%, reaching 20,414 operations.
In 2014, Antalya, Paris, Prague, Beijing, New York, Amsterdam, Rome, Shanghai, and Sharm-el-Sheikh were among the most popular foreign destinations, with St. Petersburg, Simferopol, Sochi, Krasnodar,Yekaterinburg, Mineralnye Vody, Rostov-On-Don, Kaliningrad, Samara, Vladivostok and Khabarovsk placing among the most sought-after domestic destinations.
In the previous year, Sheremetyevo Airport won a number of prestigious awards and took top positions in reputed ratings.
As you may recall, in 2014 Sheremetyevo Airport proved its status of being the best European airport in terms of best service quality offered according to ACI (Airports Council International). This makes Sheremetyevo Airport the first Russian airport to receive a leader of honor status according to its independent ACI’s ASQ rating from 2012, continuing to prove its success, even increasing it through multiple key indicators, according to the results of 2013. The ACI award reflects passengers’ opinion on 34 key service indicators, and constitutes an unbiased and accurate criterion to define the leaders among airports from over the world.
Sheremetyevo International Airport is recognized as the favorite Russian brand of travellers according to a polling survey conducted by TripAdvisor — the largest portal dedicated to travelling and tourism.
Sheremetyevo Airport is recognized as the best international airport in Russia according to the results of a survey conducted by the Adam Smith Institute among experts and industry representatives.
Sheremetyevo Airport became one of the TOP-5 of Routes Marketing Awards in the nomination for “Best European airport in aviation marketing”.
For the second time, Sheremetyevo Airport became the winner of the prestigious luxury travel business award “Readers’ Choice Condé Nast Traveller”.
Sheremetyevo Airport was also recognized as the winner of the aviation Press club’s award in nomination “Media leader among airports”.This monitoring was conducted by Medialogia Company. The award was organized by Aviaport agency.
