Based on the results of Airports Council International’s (ACI) Airport Service Quality (ASQ) program, Sheremetyevo International Airport received an award as Europe’s best in terms of passenger-service quality on May 27, 2014. The official Awards Ceremony was organized as part of the ACI EUROPE & ACI WORLD Annual Congress & Exhibition, which took place in Seoul, South Korea. As the most important Congress and Exhibition in the airport industry, this time the event gathered over 1,000 executives and specialists from various world-leading airports. The overarching theme was Airports —Serving Clients and Communities. During both Congress days, airport managers and industry experts shared their experience and knowledge at presentations and interactive panel discussions. The exhibition hall featured over 100 stands presenting different airports, service providers and aviation-related businesses. The latest trends in the development of infrastructure, technology and other products and services were showcased, and numerous workshops and VIP-events were held.
Angela Gittens, General Director at ACI World, opened the Awards Ceremony for the world’s best airports. She emphasized Sheremetyevo’s impressive progress and stressed that “for the second time, the key victory drivers have been the airport team’s desire and aspiration for change, innovation, and the presence of a well-balanced strategy aimed at quality and client service.”
Alexander Golubchenko, a member of the JSC MASH Board of Directors, Head of the Committee for Strategic Development at the Board of Directors, accepted the award on behalf of Sheremetyevo Airport.
Speaking at the official ceremony, A. Golubchenko said, “On behalf of the entire staff of Sheremetyevo International Airport, I am happy to announce that we are especially proud to be declared the best European airport for two years in a row. First and foremost, it means that we are continuing to develop and get better and more comfortable for our passengers. Today, our airport stands on the brink of huge transformations: a new runway and airfield infrastructure are under construction, and we are about to begin planning and building a new terminal in the northern part of the airport, as well as tunnels that will integrate distant terminals into a single complex. We also see this award as yet another sign of Russia and Russian companies’ growth, openness to innovation and best practices, and progress towards becoming leaders in their respective industries.”
Sheremetyevo has reconfirmed last year’s status as Europe’s best airport in terms of service quality. This makes Sheremetyevo the first Russian airport to establish itself as the leader of the ACI ASQ independent rating in 2012, and then to repeat this success and even surpass it by certain key parameters in 2013. The ACI ASQ rating is representative of passenger views on 34 key service parameters and is an unbiased and precise indicator of global airport leadership.
In 2013, a series of projects aimed at enhancing passenger and guest-service quality and creating a positive atmosphere in the terminals was carried out in the airport, which also contributed to its leadership in the ACI ASQ rating.
This year, Sheremetyevo Airport will continue to improve service quality, implement new services, develop its infrastructure and maintain a harmonious and friendly atmosphere for its passengers and clients.
