Chopin Airport had its six consecutive record month and busiest March on record, with over 800,000 passengers handled.
The exact number of travellers served was 804,300, a 10.5% growth year-on-year. It was the first March in its history that the Warsaw airport broke the 800,000 passenger mark.
March was the sixth straight month of record-breaking figures for Chopin Airport, continuing the trend started in October. Consequently, the total for the first quarter of 2015 was also record high, with over 2.1 million passengers handled (up 8.7%), including 1.9 million on international flights (up 11.2%) and 246,200 domestically (down 7.1%).
The number of aircraft movements in March amounted to 10,100, an 11.6% increase on the corresponding period of 2014.
Radosław Paruzel, the deputy director of Chopin Airport said: “The figures for the last few months show that Poles are increasingly choosing to fly from Warsaw. Despite the growing competition from regional airports, more and more people start or end their journey at Chopin Airport. It is with them in mind that we will soon be opening a new part of the terminal, which will make this journey even smoother and more comfortable. Chopin Airport is developing very successfully and is always close to its customers, bringing the world within their reach.”
