There is significant potential for business aviation in Africa to meet international standards. Both commercial and general aviation hold a potential to generate substantial economic benefits for the continent which will be peaking the interest of African regulators. The issues are layered and complex and there is no blanket solution that will address the diverse needs and cultures of this continent.
In his opening address at the AfBAA Regional Symposium in Marrakech, Morocco on September 26,
Mr. Mohammed Husary, Founder and Executive President of United Aviation Services (UAS) points out that there is optimism about the future of African aviation and African development in general, but in order to support growth and development, the focus must be on the challenges and the solutions that African aviation needs.
“In the last years, we have hired and trained local African staff and stationed UAS supervisors in airports across Africa. Although there are still hurdles to face in infrastructure, ground equipment availability, VIP facilities, and communication with local authorities, we aim to replicate the superior service levels that our clients would experience in other parts of the world and deliver that same experience to them in Africa.” said Mr. Husary, “Education is an ideal way to not only give back to the aviation profession but also to encourage exchange of ideas between professionals from different backgrounds while helping to develop the next generation of leaders in Africa and beyond. It is truly a declaration of our commitment to building a solid foundation in Africa.”
In association with AfBAA, UAS has recently launched an exciting scholarship and internship initiative for students in Africa. The UAS Aviation Grant & Internship Program will allow this year’s recipients, two students from the Ethiopian Aviation Academy in Addis Ababa, to study an IATA Airport Management Course provided at the Emirates Aviation College to get professionally accredited.
