Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe,announced new routes from Larnaca (Cyprus) from April 2014. The new routes, which are part of a long term development plan for the destination Cyprus and of which already a route to Donetsk has been announced earlier, will be operated on one of the airline’s new Airbus A320 aircraft from the 2014 summer schedule.
With the addition of the new routes, Wizz Air’s route network in Larnaca will now grow to a total of 6 routes to 5 different countries. Capacity in the first 12 months of operating the new routes will grow to a total of 250,000 seats. The airline believes this will stimulate the local job market in aviation and tourism sectors as consumers will have access to more low cost routes. Wizz Air also announced a new route from Sofia from May 2014. The route will be operated on one of the airline’s new Airbus A320 aircraft from 14 May 2014 and will connect Sofia with Tel Aviv.
Wizz Air’s route network in Sofia will now grow to a total of 17 routes to 12 different countries. The airline believes this is good news for the job market in aviation and tourism sectors in both cities as consumers will have access to more low cost routes.
